3 Apps You Need to Survive Your Next Music Festival

concertMusic makes the world go ‘round. At least, that’s how the song goes. And these days, music festivals are the go-to events in Spring and Summer months. There’s a festival — or 10 — for every person and every kind of musical taste. But how much you enjoy these festivals is directly impacted by your preparation for them, and I don’t mean sleeping bags or hand sanitizer (although those are pretty important, too).

I’m talking about apps. Our smartphones have become extensions of our bodies and minds, and apps are their lifeblood. So before you head out to your next music festival, make sure you download three apps key to your enjoyment – and maybe your survival.

1) The Event App

Every festival these days has its own app. They provide everything from maps of the grounds with bathrooms, spots to buy food and drinks and other key locations marked, as well as performance schedules (critical for festivals with more than one stage). This will help you stay on top of the performances you really want to see and any other activities you want to see and/or participate in throughout your time at the festival. And the good news is that these are pretty much always free to download.

2) FilmicPro

This one will run you $9.99, but it’s worth it. It takes your already pretty good smartphone camera and adds a slew easy-to-use controls, allowing you to capture some amazing videos — including timelapses — while enjoying the festival. With a multitude of frame rates and resolutions to choose from, and control over your focal point as well as things like ISO and Shutter (both affect how much light the camera lens lets in), you’ll come away with far better footage than you would just using the built-in camera app.

3) Fasetto Direct Share

Fasetto is going to help you on many fronts. For starters, cell reception can often be spotty-at-best at major festivals, either because of the location or because nearby cell towers are flooded with so much traffic from all the concertgoers. With the direct share feature from Fasetto for Android and Windows Phone, you can send messages among your group without needing a data or text message plan from your provider – only internet to login, but not to get the full sharing capabilities. You can share photos, videos and other files directly from device to device without needing to use a data plan. What’s more, each user gets 10GBs of free storage, so you don’t have to worry about running out of space on your phone while at your favorite festival. So feel free to shoot as much video and take as many pictures as you like.
